Barbara enjoys writing, steaming hot black coffee, red wines, books, movies, friends, family, food, sour-dough baking, vigorous conversations, laughter, rain, and quiet early mornings. For weeks at a time, along with small dog, Scooter Sublime, she and her husband, David, share the piloting of a power boat on the inland waters of Washington state and Canada--he is, she admits, the better navigator but when it comes to skillful docking . . . she's a master. Waiving the required undergrad degree, Fuller Theological Seminary invited Pine to earn an M.A. in Theology with a concentration on Church History. She was honored to be a selected as a speaker at her FTS graduation.
Barbara Roberts Pine, author of Life with a Capital ‘L’, has had articles published in Turning Points and Catholic Digest magazines. A series of her poems are found in the book This Too Shall Pass, Keeping Faith During Tough Times. She has written commentary, study guides, poems and essays, and copy-edited for authors of seven books. You name it, she's thought about it and, likely, has had fun saying something about it (See Surprises). Pine has spoken nationally and internationally on subjects that fly from The Art of Listening, to a series more and more a unique--Using the Brain to Think, to lectures running from religion, to relationships, to Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Among her often sought speaking topics are series on American Puritanism and Church History and most popular, a humor and courage-filled series on being a Gutsy, Savvy, and Wise Woman. Charging through chapter by chapter, Barbara has compiled a fresh and inquisitive glance at the four Christian Gospels. Most recently, she has completed the deeply moving story of a Sudanese refugee: ZAMBAKARI which she shared in these pages.
