The primary missing part? My friend, Diane, who, with her husband, Tom, for over twenty years traveled some part of the summer with us aboard PineAweigh. You might remember her from the “L” book. She’s the friend who thought a softly swinging wooden windsock on a neighbor’s deck was a real bird, asking, “Is it rare?” Their summer schedule makes joining us impossible this year. If you’ve read last year’s “PineAweigh Adventures” blogs, you know Diane (quite without intention) frequently brought the “Ha Ha Ha” to the voyage. Whatever will I do without her along this summer of ‘19?
I know, I’ll re-read last year’s PineAweigh blog. I’ll watch more carefully this year for humor to be in place. Like yesterday, when I bent at the beach to look at the dead Moon Snail’s shell and tipped the coffee mug I carried, soaking a new pink tee-shirt. I’ll use some of her phrases, like, “Damn.” Or, “What-ever.” Or, “Go figure,” or, “No, no, no . . .” Or, “I loveee it,” or, “Eeeeew!”
So, sans Diane, join me (the seemingly serious one looking for a good laugh), along for our summer’s cruise. Tomorrow, we will take PineAweigh to Gig Harbor, spend a few days provisioning her, then hop aboard again for some days in the South Sound.
Correction: “Hopping aboard” translates to loads of stuff moved to the car, from the car to the marina’s ramp carts, from the long ramp to PineAweigh’s transom stair, cartloads lifted to cockpit, carried from cockpit to saloon, to the small galley, and staterooms to stow, stash, and secure before we complete the checklist, start the engines, release the lines, and slip from the Gig’s harbor. The 2019 adventure begins. Join us!
