#10 BLOVIATE - A WORD FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY

Bloviate -- Talk. That is, talk with like, way too many words, you know, that is, ah, carrying on when a few words would do the job nicely, or well, if you prefer. More pointedly, and proudly, this is a truly American word created in the mid-19th century from pseudo-Latin that came close to meaning "blow," and was reportedly favored by our President Warren G. Harding. As we Americans use it today it is a verb, you know, an action word, that implies "to speak pompously." That is, in my Humble Opinion, the activity of spitting unneeded, unnecessary words into the world of people because, as a speaker, why use few words, that is, you know, not many,  if a mixing bowl full of cleverly chosen yet dispensable words poured out onto the unexpectant listener will created the illusion of a vocabulary popping with sparkling brilliance; you know--lexical fireworks.

Happy Fourth of July, fellow Americans. Show your National Pride. Enjoy and Use this truly American word today.
